Hello, I’m Dee, the florist and creative behind Where Forge Meets Thistle.

My journey into floristry wasn’t quite the traditional one. Before following my passion for flowers, I spent many years working in education as a Business Manager, managing three schools. It was a hugely rewarding career and one that taught me so much about people, organisation and the importance of getting the little details right.

But there was always a creative part of me that wanted more.

I had always loved flowers and over the years I found myself creating wedding flowers for friends and family. I absolutely loved the process, taking someone’s ideas, personality and vision and turning them into something beautiful and meaningful. Eventually, after plenty of soul-searching, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and follow my heart.

I enrolled at flower school, where I immersed myself in the wonderful world of floristry. I learnt new skills, discovered so much about the art and craft of flowers and met some truly inspiring people along the way. It was during this time that Where Forge Meets Thistle began to take shape.

A little bit of me in the name

The name is deeply personal.

“Thistle” is a nod to my Scottish heritage and my love of all things Scotland. “Forge” comes from my beautiful old forge nestled in the Suffolk countryside, a place that I love and that has become part of the inspiration behind my business.

Together, the name represents so much of what I love: my heritage, the Suffolk countryside, creativity, craftsmanship and of course, flowers.

Creating flowers with meaning

For me, floristry is about so much more than arranging beautiful blooms. It’s about you.

Whether I’m creating flowers for your wedding, a special celebration or simply because you want to bring a little more beauty into your home, I want the finished flowers to feel personal and completely yours.

I take time to listen, understand what you’re looking for and get to know the little details that make your occasion special. I believe the best floral designs are those that tell a story, whether that’s through a favourite flower, a meaningful colour palette, the season you’re celebrating in or simply the feeling you want your flowers to create.

I’m a real believer in the personal touch and I’ll be with you throughout the process, from our first conversation to the moment your flowers are delivered and everything comes together.
